Raleigh, N.C. – Today Senator Chuck Edwards (R-Henderson) announced his recent appointment to the Joint Legislative Program Evaluation Oversight Committee by President Pro-Tempore Phil Berger (R-Rockingham).
The responsibilities of the Joint Legislative Program Evaluation Oversight Committee are to receive and review requests for evaluations to be completed by the Program Evaluation Division (PED) of the General Assembly. Through these requests, the committee, in partnership with the Director of PED establishes an annual work plan that describes the evaluations that are to be completed by the division. These evaluations are conducted on programs and initiatives of NC to determine if they are working as the legislature intended, are its taxpayers getting what they paid for, and are there ways they can be improved.
Senator Edwards said of his appointment, “This committee assignment is among those that best allows me to use my knowledge and experience as a businessman to help make a difference for NC. Since taking office in 2016 I have taken great interest in this committee, and I have followed their work carefully. Their efforts to collect data, make analysis, and develop solutions to help fix complex problems fits well in my bailiwick. I appreciate that I have the gained the confidence of the Senate’s leadership to have been asked to perform such vital work.”
