Senator Edwards Appointed to Joint Select Committee on Judicial Reform and Redistricting

Raleigh, N.C. – Senator Chuck Edwards (R-Henderson) was appointed to the Joint Select Committee on Judicial Reform and Redistricting by President Pro-Tempore Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) on Thursday January 4, 2018.

Senator Edwards said of his appointment “After conducting extensive research, hearing many hours of expert testimony and participating in much lively debate, it becomes apparent to me that NC should immediately address the constitutional issues with our court system that have been brought to our attention. After studying judicial selection models from around the country, and listening to expert testimony on this topic, I believe we that we owe it to our citizens to continue the discussion on how we can best ensure judicial accountability, independence, and a court system that is fair and just. I am honored to have received the assignment to continue this important work by now collaborating with the NC House.”
