Local candidates began filing for public office Monday for the 2020 General Elections. Filing will run until Dec. 20.
Locally, next year’s races include all of Henderson County’s representatives in the N.C. General Assembly, two spots on the Board of Commissioners and four seats on the School Board.
The following candidates filed Monday, according to filings posted online by the Henderson County Board of Elections:
For N.C. Senate District 48, incumbent Republican Sen. Chuck Edwards and Democrat Brian Caskey, a Mills River Town councilman, have filed.
For N.C. House 113, former Polk County Commissioner and incumbent Rep. Jake Johnson has filed. Johnson, a Republican, was appointed to serve out the remainder of former Rep. Cody Henson’s term.
