Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Another top priority is to enable our citizens to live up to their fullest potential and enjoy the lifestyle of their choice. To do this means not only to create an environment that strengthens our economy, but one that also offers opportunities on all socio-economic levels.
The availability of a well-trained workforce is one of the most critical concerns of employers. One way I will work to ensure such a workforce is to close the skills gap. The skills gap is the disparity between the skills employers need and the skills that job seekers possess. To close this gap and to create better opportunities for our citizens, we must leverage the strength of our state’s community college, fine-tune our first class university system, and create better partnerships between employers and educators. We must look ahead to determine what will be the types of jobs that employers will be offering in the future.
