A Strong Economy

One of my top priorities is to help create an environment in which our state’s economy can flourish and from which Western North Carolina will benefit. Very often, this may simply mean getting government out of the way, and then to keep government from interfering with those who seek to take risks and to create jobs. As a businessman since the age of 16, and as a leader among many business advocacy groups, I understand first-hand the enormous burdens that can impact risk takers in their quest to grow their businesses.

If our economy is to grow, our state must create an environment that removes barriers and rewards successes. Creating legislation that reduces regulation and helps contain the costs of operating businesses are among the key actions that legislators can take.

For Senate District 48 to flourish, we need a fair tier system that will enable our more rural areas to benefit. We need to continue to strengthen our investments in the infrastructures of utilities, sites, transportation, and communication so they are always at-the-ready when a business is considering to locate to or expand in our state.
